Etan Patz Case: Ray Kelly Discusses Search For Missing Child On 'Good Day New York' (VIDEO)

WATCH: Ray Kelly Discuss Etan Patz Search With Son Greg Kelly

Police Commissioner Ray Kelly visited the set of "Good Day New York" on Friday to discuss the latest in the new search to find the remains of Etan Patz, the 6-year old boy who mysteriously disappeared in 1979 on his way to school.

Co-hosts Rosanna Scotto and Greg Kelly, the latter of whom is the police commissioner's son, spoke to Kelly about the investigation's latest developments. Kelly explained the reopening of the case and FBI tactics:

"The Manhattan district attorney requested (the case) be reopened in 2010. The FBI used cadaver dogs and brought in mats. They placed the mats on the floor and the dogs made a positive ID of those mats. Yesterday, they (investigators) did precise measurements. The next four days they'll go in there and remove the concrete."

When Greg asked about Othniel Miller, the handyman suspected of murdering Patz, the police commissioner declined to provide details:

"I'm not going to speak about any of the potential suspects in this case. I think that obviously the process is going forward. FBI and NYPD are working together. FBI has some excellent technical capabilities and we're hopeful we can bring some sense of closure to this case."

Although no official announcement has been made explaining why the case was reopened, a law enforcement official told The Associated Press, an FBI dog's detection of human remains sparked the decision, corroborating Kelly's statements on "Good Day New York."
