Teacher Allegedly Filmed Students Under Desks, Says Officials At Rancho Dominguez Prep School (VIDEO)

WATCH: Teacher Caught Filming Students Under A Desk

A substitute teacher at Rancho Dominguez Prep School in Long Beach, Calif. has been removed from the classroom for allegedly filming students from underneath a desk.

A sixth grader named Christopher told CBS2 that he was the one to discover the hidden camera, which had fallen to the floor from underneath a classroom table.

“I grabbed it, and when I was grabbing it, my teacher snatched it out of my hand,” Christopher said to CBS2. “I asked him, ‘What are you gonna do with it?’, and he said, ‘Don’t worry about it’.”

Someone else ended up reporting the discovery to school administrators, who in turn told officials at Los Angeles Unified School District. The Long Beach police department is currently investigating the case.

LAUSD official Daryl Strickland says that the teacher was not a regular substitute teacher at Rancho Dominguez prep. As soon as officials learned about the accusation, the teacher was immediately removed from the school.

"He is not here, students are safe," Strickland said to KTLA. "We are trying to communicate with parents, students, teachers and the community -- let everyone know what we know at this point."

Rancho Dominguez Prep principal Keri Lew sent home to school parents about the teacher's removal, and the district will be holding a meeting for the school community at 5 p.m. on campus.
