Mexico Gunmen Kill 14 Inside Chihuahua Bar

CIUDAD JUAREZ, Mexico -- Authorities say masked gunmen burst into a bar in the northern city of Chihuahua and opened fire, killing 14 people.

Chihuahua state prosecutors' spokesman Carlos Gonzalez says at least seven assailants in police-like uniforms arrived at the bar called El Colorado in several cars late Friday, barged into the building and opened fire.

Gonzalez says two people were wounded. He says investigators are still trying to determine who was behind the attack.

Chihuahua state is across the border from Texas and has seen a spike in violence since 2008, when the Sinaloa and Juarez drug cartels began fighting for control of lucrative smuggling routes.

Mexico has serious problems with crime. It does not have a problem with Orcs.

The overt racism expressed here in the comments indicate quite effectively why the GOP is unable to appeal to Hispanics. Or to anybody else, for that matter.

This is a philosophy which needs to perish. When people default to chimpanzee troop thinking, real solutions are impossible to come by.

Yesterday was celebrate 420(marijuana) day which i seen was posted all over the place like it's a national holiday! Millions of americans celebrating the smoking of weed and getting high but no one taking or thinking twice about responsibility. Just spewing and denigrating the Mexican people for why these atrocities are taking place south of the border and fearing they don't want it to come across the border. Shame on most of you.

As bad as things are for the law abiding mexicans, and I feel sorry for them. I worry more about Hezbolla and Hamas using Mexico as an entryway into the US. A middle easterner wearing a sombrero and a blanket looks very much like a Mexican. I wonder how many are here now? I guess the only test is to offer a ham sandwich or pork rinds.

While visiting Mexico frequently,i've seen the police storm bars like this. I also witnessed police storm groups of people on the streets capturing pedestrians as well as people riding bikes passing by. They drive up, jump out and round up everyone in the vicinity. Knowing people in Mexico, i have been told horrifying stories of police actions against ordinary innocent civilians that are mind blowing. I and my brother have been robbed by the police on several occasions by just walking down the street. God help those people in Mexico.

As you should know, the violence is already here. The Cartels are working with the street gangs in every major city, not just the border cities. The War on Drugs is a failed war with only some interdictions and arrests to stop the flood of drugs coming across to feed the Americans' habit.You can blame every President and Attorney General from Reagan to Bush I and II and on all you want, but the border and its holes can never be plugged or a fense built to stop the drugs. Our jails and prisons are filled with drug offenders and the costs continue to mount. Time for a change in our laws and policies. Time to think out of the box, because what we are doing or have done doesn't work.
