'Galaxy S III' Teaser: Samsung Mocks iPhone 'Sheeple' (VIDEO)

WATCH: Samsung Jabs At iPhone Fans

BUH-BOOM! That's the sound of Samsung once again taking a shot at Apple, as a teaser advertisement for the Korean company's upcoming Galaxy phone promises that buying from Samsung will separate you from "the sheep".

Check out the brief video, posted to the SamsungMobile YouTube account early Monday morning:

The video is promoting, in a rather abstract way, the May 3rd event that Samsung has planned to unveil what is widely assumed to be the Galaxy S III. That phone is the company's eagerly anticipated followup to the popular Galaxy S II Android smartphone, which recently stole the crown of "Best Smartphone of the Year" from Apple's iPhone at the 2012 Mobile World Congress. Despite the critical accolades, however, and the seal of approval from our friends at Engadget, the iPhone has easily outsold the Galaxy S II over the past six months: Since its release in May 2011, the GS2 has sold over 20 million units, while consumers bought almost 40 million units of the iPhone 4S in its first three months alone.

Though the teaser ad doesn't offer many details about the next Galaxy phone itself -- it will apparently fit into your hand easily, which means that it is NOT the size of a Galaxy Note -- it does hint at technology that the company believes will be game-changing. Rumored specs leading up to the launch of the new Galaxy phone have been hard to come by, aside from one that supposedly leaked to tech site Boy Genius Report; BGR claims that the new Samsung flagship will pack a 1.5GHz quad core processor, a 4.8-inch full HD 1080p screen and Android 4.0 into a ceramic case.

The big story -- and all the tech blog chatter -- went to the seconds-long depiction of sheep in the teaser spot.

Now, Samsung's video doesn't explicitly name Apple or iPhone owners as the "sheeple" referenced. The video simply states that opting for Samsung will help you stand out from "everyone else," with a picture of a flock of sheep accompanying the provocative text. Given Samsung's recent history of knocking Apple fanboys in its television advertisements, however, it seems safe to assume that, in this case, sheep=those who buy iProducts.

Samsung, remember, based not just one advertisement, but an entire series of TV commercials around bashing Apple fans who waited in line outside stores for new Apple products. That series alternately vouched for the supremacy of the Galaxy S II and the Galaxy Note over the iPhone 4S. All that Apple mockery apparently worked, as Samsung has already sold over 5 million units of its critically-derided Note phablet.

Kicking the beehive has its benefits, apparently. And in just two weeks, on May 3rd, we'll see how Samsung will respond to the iPhone 4S and learn what it has to offer in its first major smartphone unveiling since the Galaxy Note. HuffPost will be watching and so will smartphone buyers -- both human and sheep -- the world over.

Below, we've gotten a peek at what another smartphone giant, HTC, has done to battle the iPhone in the U.S. Check out a few views of the HTC One S, an excellent Android 4.0 smartphone on T-Mobile.
