"Wicked Tuna" (Sun., 10 p.m. ET on National Geographic) follows the fortunes of crews from Gloucester, Mass. as they fish for giant bluefin tuna
On Sunday night's episode one crew landed the catch of a lifetime.
Giant bluefins are highly prized for sushi and sashimi. Weighing-in at almost 1,100 lbs, this leviathan was estimated to have a market price of between $15,000 and $18,000.
That would net the hard-pressed crew around $14,000 in profit.
"Wicked Tuna" continues on Sundays at 10 p.m. ET on National Geographic.

Promoting selective fishing that wastes little ocean wildlife is one key to the bluefin's recovery. Fishermen who use rods and reels, such as those profiled in Wicked Tuna, can specifically target the species and release undersized fish alive.
Contrary to worst fears, the show's first episode did not glorify the fishing. Contrary to romanticizing the fishery, I felt, the show can make one feel that this isn't an attractive way to try to turn a profit.
National Geographic is committed to the big picture. Conservation concerns will be part of the project. That's their promise so let's take them at their word.
Well, people, what an incredibly long drop it's been since the electrifying National Geographic TV specials of my youth, whose mere opening theme notes would raise the hair on my neck.
