Brian McKnight Announces ‘Adult Mixtape' And Previews ‘If You're Ready To Learn' (VIDEO)

Known for belting out smooth chart-topping hits, R&B singer Brian McKnight has decided to take on a more mature topic for his latest project.

The platinum-selling crooner recently previewed his new track, “If You’re Ready To Learn,” via YouTube on Monday and has a spawned a backlash from fans due to the song’s sexually explicit lyrics. During the three minute clip McKnight revealed that the song is slated to appear on his forthcoming as-yet-untitled “Adult Mixtape,” which originated from an idea on Twitter.

“I asked everyone on my timeline, ‘if I had this idea, what subject would you want me to tackle’ and there were some varied responses because most people only want to hear me do one kind of song,” he explained. “But there’s lots of conversations that I’ve had with men, lots of conversations that I had with women just about other sexual type things that I like to tackle. So I’m in the middle of writing a song and I wanted to give you a preview of what that song is.”

In spite of McKnight's attempt of instructing how a woman “works,” the singer took to his Twitter account this morning to respond to critics and announce that a clean version is in the works;

Just like any other song that comes out, either you're gonna like it or you're not, controversial or not. I was never a Brian McKnight fan, he just didn't capture me with his music. To each his own. From what the article on TMZ, he said he was bored because he's incapacitated due to foot surgery and he made the song up. WHATEVA!

I don't know if this is a joke or not, however I do love the concept. Women should know how they're bodies respond to sexual stimulation. I have had this ability to "squirt" since I was a teenager but was always afraid of it. It was until I meant my second husband that I realized I was a perfectly normal woman and began to enjoy my sex life in ways that would free your mind! I'm looking forward to the dirty version of the CD!

Everyone needs to realize that he lives at home with 2 sons one of which is 22 and the other who is 19 I'm sure they helped write this song I mean like he told TMZ he's in the studio 24/7 and can write about anything he prolly had a beat lying around and just decided to be funny with it if you're a true fan of his you know he has a huge sense of humor anyone else can just hate all they want that guy has more talent in his pinky then Chris Brown, Trey songz, and whoever is out now a days combined. The reason it got so much hype is bc his voice sounds so amazing and classy even while saying such provocative words.

OK so here's the skinny. B McKnight's brother was in a christian fundamentalist group called Take 6 (of which BM also contributed). He has a HUGE christian fan base who for some reason want to keep one foot with the cool crowd and the other with their flock.

These are just words put to music the end result being art of some sort. People need to grow up, he did warn people by saying this project was for adults. I don't see what's the problem?

I was all up in arms like "How dare he?!" when I heard about this. But listening to it, I understand the concept I don't like it. I would be offended if a man approach the subject of intercourse talking like that. Especially for the first time. Though there are some people that are turned on by this though.To each his/her own. I'm not knocking them. And it may be the way he talks when he is alone with his special someone and he wants to express himself the way he really is. But for those of us who do not like that crude language, can you change the "P" word to body or even sexy? And instead of "everytime that you give it up", can we change it to "everytime they lay you down?" Just a thought... I'm sure the clean version will be ok when it is completed.
