A Fort Carson soldier is facing charges from the district attorney's office after shooting his wife in the leg during a suicide attempt.
Joshua Bradley, 25, ended up shooting his wife Crystal "Chrissy" Bradley, 22, in the leg last August when she tried to intervene.
Joshua Bradley spent a week in jail and faces charges of assault, reckless endangerment and prohibited use of a weapon for the shooting according to the Associated Press.
Chrissy Bradley however says that she never wanted to press charges.
"If I get convicted of this, I'll be facing five years in prison," Joshua Bradley told KRDO. "Then I'll get kicked out of the Army and won't have a job."
The soldier says he has sought help for his depression that came about when, during a deployment to Afghanistan, his previous wife left him and his grandmother died.
The couple were married in January.
This story is still developing. Questions directed to the District Attorney's office were unanswered at press time.
