Kirsten Gillibrand, Gabby Giffords Shop Before EMILY's List Dinner (PHOTO)

Posted: 04/24/2012 1:17 pm Updated: 04/24/2012 1:22 pm

Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) and Gabby Giffords may not be Congressional colleagues any longer, but they are still good friends.

Gillibrand tweeted this photo Tuesday of Giffords and herself at a Washington, D.C. store. Later they will attend a dinner for EMILY's List, a political action committee dedicated to electing pro-choice Democratic women to office.

Gillibrand and Giffords have been close since before the Arizona shooting that eventually led Giffords to resign from Congress. When Giffords announced in January she was leaving public office, Gillibrand was quick to offer words of support.

"For the past year, Gabby has shown the world the person I have always known -- an extraordinary woman of fierce drive, determination and courage," the senator said in a statement. "Gabby made the right decision for her and her family, but this is just the beginning of the next chapter of her story. I know that Gabby will find other ways to fulfill her calling of public service and continue to lead and inspire the nation."

So good to see Gabby up and out.

Seeing how Ms. Gifford is dressed it's probably a good idea she went shopping for some new clothes. I believe the flasher overcoat look went out of style years ago.

How thrilling, some can barely Wall Mart.

As a 2nd Amendment supporter Mrs. Gifford's recovery continues to amaze me and I wish her all the best. Please people, demonize the person who brought harm against her and not the tool.
03:58 PM on 04/24/2012
How about both.
04:04 PM on 04/24/2012
Then we might as well start demonizing cars, knives, rope, bats, hammers, fuels and anything else that can be used to harm people. Steel toed boots?

how about reasonable regulations, like not allowing 30 round clips like the one the shooter used? The law banning those expired under George W Bush.
05:48 PM on 04/24/2012
Didn't know there were 30 round clips used. I do know 33 round magazines were used and it wouldn't have made a lick of difference because if a person wants it bad enough they'll obtain it. The sunset of the AWB was the best thing to happen under the Bush administration. All of my 30, 40 and 100 round magazines aren't going to turn me into a killer. Same goes with the majority of gun owners.

It is nice to see Gabby up and around! More power to you, Gabby!

And to those who think this is boring.... put yourself in her shoes and deal what she has been dealing with through no fault of her own and you will see that this is inspirational.

if you are bored - then you are a bore!

In view of the fact that Gabby Gifford was shot and a child dead, I find it baffling that AZ passed a law that permits carrying guns on to school campuses, elementary schools on up. Permit not withstanding.

Not just a child died that day, but several other innocent people. Gun rights proponents argue that all the law-abiding citizens carrying guns could stop large scale gun massacres such as this. However, I remember reading that a witness at the AZ shooting had a gun and almost shot the wrong person...it turned out that it was the man who grabbed the gun from Loughner.
