Earthquake Rocks Tokyo

A long earthquake shook Japan's capital Tokyo on Tuesday, April 24, 2012, according to reports. The preliminary magnitude reportedly was 5.5.

According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, the earthquake occurred at 5:22 JST. The USGS notes that a 5.4-magnitude quake occurred near the east coast of Honshu, Japan.

Japan correspondent for The Guardian and Observer Justin McCurry noted that the quake was "fairly big."
