Trey Erwin, Teen Fighting Cancer, Named Honorary University Of Tennessee Alum

Being diagnosed with Stage IV Pancreatic Cancer and undergoing chemotherapy hasn't been enough to break 15-year-old Trey Erwin's spirit. An avid high school football player and fan, Trey was elated to be given the star treatment at a recent University of Tennessee game, where he was named an honorary UT alum by the Young Alumni Association.

In addition to watching the game in a skybox, Trey was invited inside the team's locker room, to throw some passes on the field with the quarterback and even hang out with the UT cheerleaders.

Using the hashtag #PrayforTrey, Trey's friends and family -- as well as thousands of other Twitter users from his community and beyond -- have tweeted their support and kind words. Members of Trey's school community recently hosted a lacrosse game in Trey's honor and charged $5 for admission, the proceeds of which went to the Erwin family.

Trey's best friend, Cody Jordan, told WBIR: "There are 'Pray for Trey' signs all over school. Everyone at church is wearing t-shirts, bracelets. It's gone viral."

Another good-cause viral campaign started by high school students that recently made waves on the Internet was the "Fish Will Walk" petition. Students started a Facebook page and Change.org petition urging the school district to reverse their decision not to let Austin Fisher, a teen who had acquired too many unexcused absences due to taking care of his mother with cancer, walk at graduation. The petition was successful and Austin was given permission to join his classmates at commencement.

And in other uplifting news, 18-year-old Kevin McGuire, who is battling cancer for the second time, was given the opportunity of a lifetime when his celebrity crush, Taylor Swift, invited him to be her date at the Academy of Country Music Awards.
