Scott Walker Recall: Chris Christie To Campaign For Wisconsin Governor

Walker Christie
Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie

Sussex Patch:

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie - often dubbed one of the "rock stars" of the Republican party - is headed to Wisconsin next month to campaign for Gov. Scott Walker.

The May 1 visit to Green Bay and Milwaukee comes about one month before the Republican governor will try to retain his seat in the state's historic recall election.

Details were sketchy, but it appears anyone who wants to attend one of the two events will have to contribute $20 to Walker and will then be entered into a drawing for the chance to take part.

Walker has spent millions of dollars in money that he got from out of state on ads that lie about the state of the Wisconsin economy. In spite of all of this money his poll numbers have failed to move. So why does he think having loudmouth Christie come to Wisconsin will help him? Meanwhile Wisconsin ranks dead last in the nation in terms of job creation. In fact, Wisconsin has a statistically significant job loss over the past year. Gee wonder if Christie will mention that fact.

The Wisconsin Dept. of Public Education recently released a report that shows just how harmful Walker's $1 billion in cuts to education are. About 75% of the school districts are reporting record numbers of layoffs and retirements that are up 50% over the previous year. Not only that, Walker has taken on unheard of additional administrative duties for himself and he just passed a rule that basically states that teachers salaries can be cut 30 to 40% without teachers having anything to say about it. Wisconsin used to rank at the top of the country in terms of education but now we are going to sink to the level of Mississippi. Who will want to be a teacher in Wisconsin? The pay is going to be lousy and they have been constantly attacked and vilified.

Molly, good post. I can see how this would happen based on what has happened in Wisconsin. Hopefully this will be sorted out before it gets any worse.

Absolute B.S. Mol, lemme ask you a question, did you guys honestly think it was fair that teachers, who i will refer to as "the 12 percenters", had us, the other 88 percenters, paying 100% of their health care and pension, meanwhile us 88 percenters have $1000 - $2500 deductables, $25 dollar copays, monthly premiums, etc., etc, of our own to pay for on top of yours???? Could somebody with half a brain please explain to me how that's fair cuz i just don't seem to get it??? Must be because i was brainwashed by conservative talk radio that has me seeing all this stuff OR.....it's my real life experience paying rediculous health care cost because i'm not in a union, only to hear you cry babies complain you have to pay a whopping what??? 15%%%???? WOOP DEE F IN DOO!!!! Welcome to 15 percent of way life is for the vast (88%) majority of us!!!!!!

Dave Larson you are being brainwashed by conservative talk radio and FAUX news. The point is that if you compare the education and work experience of teachers to that of other people with similar educations and work experience in the private workplace the teachers in Wisconsin are being underpaid. There will be NO INCENTIVE for anyone to want to be a teacher in Wisconsin. Wait until there are more school closings and overcrowded classrooms because there will be a teacher shortage. The children will suffer and ultimately all of us will because there will be people with a substandard education. Companies won't want to hire people like that as they are looking for people to fill jobs that call for skills in math and science.

Ya know, I live in the fly over state that some of us refer to as Wisconsin. It is truely sad how us in the private sector unions have been all but forgotten about meanwhile the public sector unions basically could care less about anybody other than themselves. I've been voting democrat since the 80's but after seeing the true colors of our public sector "Brothers" over the last year, a lot of us have had enough. You won't know exactly how many of us there are until election day.
10:26 PM on 04/27/2012
Sure pal, An injury to one is an injury to all. You are not a union member!
11:02 PM on 04/27/2012
I think they pulled my last one off, too much truth, i am a union machinist for P&H mining and have been for the last 17 years. Look up the mining bill the Dems killed in Wisconsin. See for yourself. Creating jobs is in everyones best interest and should be a bi partisian thing.......RIGHT?????

lol good one!!

Sorry about the other day, i didn't have the time but today i need to respond to the craziness. First off no, i did not read the article because of 2 reasons, seeing as i live in Wisconsin i was witness to 1) all the republican senators (except one rhino) voting for the mining bill to pass and 2) all the Democrat senators voting against the mining so the bill ultimately did not pass. I guess if the aticle was titled "miserable sorry excuse for a republican (no S) Dale Schultz kills mining bill" then it would actually be accurate. Otherwise, it nothing but cannon fodder my friend.

Now, this begs the question...what benefit do Christie's constituents in New Jersey have to gain from his going to Wisconsin to campaign for Walker? How does campaigning for Walker help Christie execute his duties as governor of New Jersey?

This reminds me of Sam Brownback of Kansas going out and campaigning for people in other states...sure didn't help us in Kansas.
