'Today' Beats 'Good Morning America' In Ratings

'Today' Bounces Back

"Today" is already bouncing back from its recent ratings loss to "Good Morning America."

The NBC News program reclaimed its spot as number one morning show for the week of April 16, just after "GMA" won in total viewers the previous week.

"Today" drew 5.253 million total viewers versus 5.01 million total viewers for "GMA." "Today" also beat its rival in the key 25-54 demographic, drawing 2.319 million viewers over 1.94 million viewers for "GMA." The ratings were released on Thursday.

The two programs have recently raised the stakes in their long-running rivalry.
"GMA" scored a landmark win during the week of April 9, breaking the "Today" show's sixteen-year streak as the country's highest-rated morning show. The victory represented a seismic shift in the morning show wars.

The newest ratings tip the scale back in NBC News' favor, which surely comes as welcome news to the network. However, "Good Morning America" has been winning the current week. It is an average of 216,000 total viewers ahead of "Today" for the past three days, according to preliminary numbers from Wednesday.
