Trayvon Martin Case: George Zimmerman's Website Taken Down

ORLANDO, Fla. — The website that George Zimmerman set up to help raise money for his legal defense in Trayvon Martin's shooting has been disabled, a spokesman for his lawyer said Wednesday.

The website was no longer functioning as of Tuesday, said James Woods, a spokesman for Zimmerman's attorney, Mark O'Mara. Zimmerman is charged with second-degree murder in the shooting death of the 17-year-old Martin in February. He has pleaded not guilty and is claiming self-defense. http://www.therealgeorgezimmerman.com

"It was taken down at Mark's request and he will not have any future online presence unless authorized in advance by Mark," Woods said in an email.

He said he had no information on how much money the website raised.

O'Mara has hinted that he will ask Zimmerman to be declared indigent, which would allow taxpayers to pay for his legal bills. Any income from the website would make that process more difficult.

The website was created almost two weeks ago by Zimmerman's family to thank his supporters and to receive donations from anyone who wanted to help with his legal defense.

The 44-day delay in Zimmerman's arrest spurred protests nationwide and inspired a national debate about racial profiling, equal justice under the law and Florida's self-defense law.

Zimmerman went into hiding earlier this week after he was released from jail on a $150,000 bond.

I have no idea when the above photo was taken, but it does not show any evidence of a broken nose or black eyes on Zimmerman!. Even if the photo was taken several weeks after the shooting, his nose would show some signs of being broken recently. I'm certain his doctor has been enlisted in his defense, and promised some huge fees for his testimony.

150K bond was set low because the inept prosecution could not even convince the judge that GZ (charged with murder) was not a danger to anyone nor will he present a flight risk.

Not to change the subject -
But if this story is true - I would want the 100 individuals prosecuted (regardless of color). If this story is an exageration or not true.. I would want no false charges brought against anyone of the 100.
By the same token - if GZ version is deemed to be truthful and backed by independant witnesses - I would not want false charges brought against him.

I find it funny how you GZ supporters have clap on clap off memories. pretending TM was beating him up with actual proof GZ is a fighter by nature, the police officer he assaulted, and got off by the same white folks who are involved in this case. Some real wacko's in here...
TM was not guilty of anything - until he sucker punched GZ. That is assault and battery with intent to kill. 45 seconds none stop.
Following someone - calling the police on someone, disregarding a dispatcher advise, getting out of your car, asking a question of someone, describing someone as suspicious, answering a question about someone as being black, having a bloody nose, having gash's on back of head, accusing TM of attacking him, telling the police to call him when they arrive... none of these actions are criminal in anyway.
and finally shooting someone in self-defense is not a crime... Innocent till proven guilty for all.
TM never got that chance to tell his side - that is the circumstance.

The on-scene witness saw TM beating on GZ and also heard and saw GZ calling out for help.

What about the on-scene witness that saw Zimmerman stand up, and walk away, unhurt? how is that self defense? though...maybe in 'some' people's world it is ok to kill an unarmed youth with minor scratches...

Yes - I listened very carefully to the 911 call where you could hear someone screaming for help for a full 45 seconds before the kill shot.
And did you read the police report? The police overheard GZ tell the EMT that he screamed for help but nobody came to help,. So - you think GZ was lying and TM was doing the screaming? Because GZ was what pointing his gun at TM? Okay you can believe that - makes no difference to me.

To me, it sounds more like someone was getting his ass kicked. (Punched and Bashed in this case). Not loose at all - these are facts that support GZ's story almost perfectly. Also - to make GZ's version even more believable - there is a on-scene witness who saw TM on top of GZ and saw and heard GZ scream for help.
This is my honest view of the facts... believe you have a right to ignore the obvious - but that does not make me dishonest.

What is your honest theory?
GZ was pointing a gun at TM and that made TM scream like in pain for 45 seconds.
And 1 minute later the cops find GZ bleeding from the nose and head and GZ anticipated everything - making up his version to cover up murder 2. Doesn't pass the smell test. . .

The caller was afraid to intervene - because it sounded verocious and angry and dangerous and sounded like someone had the upperhand and the other was pleading for help. Can we agree with that?
The 911 caller called to report a fight- not because of any gun. Can we agree with that as fact.
GZ had a concealed weapon - that is an absolute fact.
TM did not know GZ had a gun until the shot was inflicted. - can we agree on that? .

Please someone explain - how is this racism issue? It is impossible.
GZ had no history of having any racist views. From what I
have read he grew up in a multi-race family and his grand father is african american.
He actually looks more african american than white? Boggles the mind.
So - it is possible that GZ was jumped by TM wrongfully (because TM rightfully did not like being followed/watched) and GZ rightfully was screaming for help for 45 seconds as TM wrongfully was relentlessly beating on GZ.
Is that is possible? - and when the shot was fired, GZ put an end to the beating WITHOUT regard to the color of TM's skin.

The world I live in - if a fellow human being is physically attacking me -
Options are few:
1) Run away as fast as you can - if sucker punched and on ground (not viable option)
2) Protect yourself from further damage - cover-up and scream for help (not viable forever)
3) Apply a greater force then that of the assailant. (a bigger stick is effective)
4) If he is of the same race or skin color (then its ok)

yes - thats all we have is GZ's self defense version - backed up by independant sources.
I have not made any decision - I don't get to decide. I can only look at all the evidence available and state my opinion. Since, GZ is innocent until proven guilty under our system - I give GZ the benefit of doubt - because so far there has been zero credible evidence that shows GZ did not act in self-defense. Nor is there credible evidence to prove Murder 2 to date. GZ either murdered TM or GZ acted in self-defense. The burden of proof is with the prosecution - they had to be pressured by 2 million biased people to charge GZ in this case. WHY? Everyone is corrupt is a very weak answer.
Of course - I could change my opinion should any new evidence be released that shows GZ commited a crime. By the way, color of skin has zero influence on my opinion.
At this point - since you admit you don't know what happened - you should at least give some creedance to GZ's story. No? Why do you think otherwise? Spare me the white on black history.. What happened was criminal back then and I'm sure it exists today... Just not present in this case.

You know good and well what I mean, I am a grown woman, I don't stutter or mix my words.

I have worked in the Justice System and have seen it before now if anything is done about it is another story. It rarely goes with any report to the Bar Association.

FYI, this Judges' rulings have been repealed more that not, that is questionable.and have been reviewed and repealed.

I can't copy and keep many of the post I have read pertaining to your question. I have read too many that have slipped past moderation, about that same subject. Look, search and watch you see several unexplained, unjustified killings of black teens. Just recently the unarmed young girl in Chicago, one also down south unarmed black teen shot.

I don't have the time at the moment to get the stats. Unfortunately it is not speculation about that.

What I am about to say, in now way believe I am crying, those tears are long gone yet the memories are quite fresh.

In the 30s il 50's lynching was legal, there were parties, groups of whites drinking, dancing and eating all the while taking pictures posing with blacks they have just hung, beaten and tortured.

Your 'quite sure' perpetuates the problem.
It is possible young Zimmerman might contribute something here in his remorse that could begin a constructive dialog surely needed. In Trayvon's name I hope so. I absolutely want this flushed out in court, but we must remember that George too is young and apparently grew up with jaded notions about people & rescue rangers and the like. If young George grows in his understandings of himself & contemporaneous prejudices, we can all grow too. Let's not prevent this from happening if it can.
