Kristen Stewart Named 'Best Dressed' By Glamour UK (PHOTOS, POLL)

Kristen Stewart tops Glamour UK's "Best Dressed Of 2012" list.

Picking a "best dressed" is a controversial endeavor, but blogs and magazines still stick out their necks at each year's end to name their fashion favorites, from red carpet celebs to politicians, of the year.

With its latest list, Glamour UK might be stirring up the discussion a bit early by picking Kristen Stewart as its top "Best Dressed Women 2012" (in April -- a bit early, non?).

The "Twilight" star ranked above Diane Kruger, Angelina Jolie, Emma Stone and even questionable icon Kate Middleton to earn the title of Best Dressed, clawing two spots up on the last from her 2011 ranking. Why, you may wonder, did K-Stew earn the winning spot? Writes Glamour UK:

"Whether she’s working bodycon Monique Lhuillier on the red carpet, or dressing down in jeans and a T-shirt, Kristen is always effortlessly on-trend. Her evolution from awkward teen to style queen has made the Twilight star a fashion icon every girl can relate to."

That means glittering red carpet gowns... with sneakers. Magazine covers... in jeans. Say what you will about her, but Kristen Stewart's style is to wear what she wants, when she wants it. She said it herself a few years ago, to Allure:

"I go outside, and I'm wearing a funky T-shirt and my hair is dirty, and people say, 'What's wrong with her? She needs to invest in a hairbrush.' I'm like, Don't you get it? I'm not that girl! I never was that girl."

Kristen Stewart has an amazing face and persona.Her eyes are pure Hollywood glam.She is the next Jodi Foster/Bette Davis but she is also unique..something you don't not see in Hollywood these days.In another era she would be allowed to shine but I think she won't get the chance in this day and age.

These ridiculous lists are nothing more than a means to shock and get people to stop and buy their magazines! How in the world could she outrank a Victoria Beckham (and I'm not even a Beckham fan) or Emma Watson? The editors follow who has a big fan base and boom put her on the cover. When Kristen Stewart dresses for a red carpet she along with every star has designers begging for stars to wear their outfits..this girl with a hired stylist chooses her winning dresses.

I find it weird that she is #1. When first reading this I was appalled, but after looking at her past outfits all at once, she actually has had quite a number of good ones. She does have a good amount of diversity too. She also doesn't seem like the type to just wear whatever a designer hands her.

However #1 is a bit of a stretch.

Oh geez. She's had a couple great dresses but, as a rule, her style isn't all that great. I really don't know why she'd be chosen over Angelina Jolie or Kate Middleton. Maybe they might be a bit conventional but their look is timeless. She does punk chic pretty well but that doesn't stand the test of time, IMO.

These 'awards' or acknowledges are done in order to promote something. She isn't really thought to be the 'best dressed,' but her publicist finagles this type of promotion in order to get her name back into conversation--she has two movies coming out. One at Cannes--whatever--and the other this summer. This is all about the Hollywood PR machine.
