17 years of classical ballet training lead me to horror that 1. the South African Ballet students point shoes are all several sizes too large and un-dancable , and 2. In my day. girls younger than 12 or 13 were not allowed on point because of the foot bones not yet being developed enough or strong enough to avoid irreparable damage.
