As Seen On TV: The 10 Hottest Products Right Now

Posted: 04/30/2012 12:31 pm Updated: 05/ 1/2012 12:32 pm

While the campy, late-night infomercials may give a good laugh, "As Seen On TV" products are hotter than ever. The cost-effective and consumer friendly products, ranging from super lint rollers to foot cream, have helped turn TeleBrands, into a billion dollar direct-marketing company.

The products promoted by the New Jersey-based company come from several sources, including manufacturers, inventors, and even the CEO, but not every idea is a slam dunk. "The ones that are successful in test marketing are fairly few, because the odds of coming up with a success are pretty slim, which is just the nature of the business," TeleBrands founder and CEO A.J. Khubani told The Huffington Post. "Being in it so long, I just -- out of necessity -- started inventing some of the products myself."

After nationwide, American Idol-style product auditions and tens of thousands of dollars in marketing, Khubani and the TeleBrands team crosses their fingers and hope for a breakout success.

I have bought about 3 of these items, in store. I'm not big on "s/h charges." However, maybe it's because it's a "woman's product" I'm wondering why the Genie Bra didn't make the list? That is a TV deal I HAD to try and HIGHLY recommend. Ladies, give it a try!

I must say I have bought 3 of the items, the egg the seat cover and the hair picker upper.not sure if they were bought on TV or at WalMart

If you must, purchase these things at Walgreens or other in-person outlets. If you order over the phone you risk getting sucked into buying other products & services you don't need, from a salesperson-scriptreader who won't let you go!
It happened to my confused elderly mom, and it was a nightmare when I tried to cancel some of these auto-subscription orders for junk, that she didn't even realize she had ordered.
Either the phone was never answered, or the customer service people were nasty & uncooperative, and in some cases there wasn't even a phone number to track down. SCAMMERS, all of them.

As seen on tv products are some of the best products you can buy out there- they're not the gimmicky, ridiculous stuff it used to be- some of these products are actually great inventions today. I love going to Walgreens and looking at the section they have devoted to the As Seen products they have in their stores.

how can the sticky buddy have sold so many when it says it hit the market June 2012 and it just started May 2012?????
11:46 AM on 05/01/2012
I think it said it was sold on line & telephone sales if I'm not mistaken.
11:56 AM on 05/01/2012
500,000 units of Sticky Buddy have been sold via television and online sales. The product hits retail shelves June 1, 2012.

I've never seen half of these products, and I don't know a single person who carries one of those Aluma wallets. I always check consumer reviews before buying ANYTHING, and most of these things have crappy reviews. Wonder what that tells you?
11:58 AM on 05/01/2012
I think that when they offer you two for the price of one, they are automatically telling you that their product is crap.

That's true, Becky, plus, they clean up on shipping & handling charges. Everything has to be shipped separately.

I recently ordered something on-line, buy one - get one free. The item was $10.99, but with S & H, the bill was $25.90.

By the time you find this out, they've already got your credit card number and you're hooked with no way out.

LESSON LEARNED!!!

Hey as we all know now. Anyone can make the books LOOK like they're on top of the world. These companies are the masters of leveraging more product then capitol. Then moving it from warehouse to warehouse to create a perception of selling product. While creating fake book records. Same with home shopping channels. They say their selling an amount on the screen but they're not. This two businesses are the next I DIDNT KNOW bubbles.

10. Orgreenic: The telebrands "Orgreenic" (stupid name if I've ever heard one) got 2 1 half stars on Amazon, with far more 1 star reviews than anything else. Says it all right there. Apparently, duct tape is less sticky than these pans.
10:23 AM on 05/01/2012
Yup, complete and utter crap, guaranteed to start falling apart immediately. Go to any good restaurant supply store and just buy a real ceramic pan. It will last decades and actually work.
11:39 AM on 05/01/2012
I'm glad I read you post. I thought I might purchase a 10" Orgreenic pan, however, after using professional grade pans, I wasn't sure I would be happy. My current non stick pan is just worn out. I will pay the extra and buy a good pan, thanks.

I have a various lot of high quality cookware, including many nonsticks (from Analon Pro to restaurant grade), but I find that whatever it is, if its nonstick it will wear out. Heat kills them much faster than scratches do. So now I advocate just getting a cheap nonstick pan, with the idea that you'll have to replace in 2-3 years. At this point, I would just get a T-Fal when it goes on sale. Sure they're kinda flimsy, but they are truly nonstick (you can fry an egg with no oil, without requiring scraping after).

9. StickyBuddy: This too is nothing new, sticky rollers of similar design have been around since the 80's. The only new part is the rubber fingers at the edge.
05:14 PM on 05/02/2012
we had a "stickey roller" waaaay back in the 60's! It worked great and all you did was rinse it off. Thought that the people who make the adhesive tape kind of roller bought them out!
Don't remember who made it.
