'Good Morning America' Beats 'Today' For Second Week

'Good Morning America' Does It Again

"Good Morning America" has beaten "Today" for the second time since it first broke its rival's 16-year winning streak earlier this month.

"Good Morning America" is leading "Today" by 165,000 total viewers for the week of April 23, according to preliminary numbers from Nielsen. It would be the second week that ABC News has won since ending its competitor's reign as the number one morning show for every week since December 1995.

The announcement comes as both networks have raised the stakes in their ratings war. ABC News teased the possibility of their new win last week, when it was revealed that "Today" had bounced back and won in total viewers for the week of April 16.

The landmark victory for "Good Morning America" happened during the week of April 9 when Matt Lauer was away. This most recent win, however, comes when Lauer was on-air for four out of five days.
