Martin Lawrence Divorce: Lawrence Files To Divorce Shamicka Gibbs

Martin Lawrence and his wife are officially calling it quits.

According to TMZ, Lawrence filed divorce docs on Wednesday, one day after announcing his split from Shamicka Gibbs, his wife of two years. According to the docs, the pair has a prenup.

Last Tuesday, the couple, who were together for 15 years before tying the knot in July 2010, issued a joint statement about their split:

"Out of love and respect for one another we will continue to remain friends and raise our two beautiful daughters together."

The 47-year-old comedian was married once before to Patricia Southall, with whom he has a daughter.

That was just about money. He's average looking and she get himself an average looking woman. If he wants another gorgeous one, get a call girl, and be done with it. No one that gorgeous wants him for anything but his money.

This is classic theory. Couples who decide to marry many years after a year or a year and one half engagement period and bear children are predicted to divorce soon after their marriage, and studies indicate that the couples who do this most often are African American.

The solution: Follow tradition. Become engaged for a year to a year and one half. Get married and then have children after the two of you have learned how to manage your lives together.

sad to say but you can't be in entertainment and be married it will never work.you have to lose somethings to gain fame.what these people don't realize is you were broke at first,how much do you need? make your money buy your stuff,get out asap and just fade away.you can be normal again and still have money.move to a decent neighborhood buy a house for a mil and be smart then have a family.dave chappelle did the right thing,fall back

There are exceptions to your statement about being in entertainment and being married. Ruby Dee and Ossie Davis both were celebrities, and had 56yrs of marriage til Ossie passed away; Denzel Washington and his wife Pauletta married 29yrs; Samuel Jackson and Patricia Richardson 32yrs of marriage and both couples are still together.

Will Smith might of been in Bad Boys but Martin Lawrence was the main man in both films, a few black actors could have filled Wills boots, but both films wouldn't have been as good without Martin.
