To know Ryan, Know his budget
Trickle down economics mixed with Ayn Rand classism spell disaster

The Ryan budget is a monument to unfairness with its emphasis on eviscerating social programs that help the poor and downtrodden while preserving current tax rates for the wealthy - all in the name of debt reduction, and expanding "tax relief" to the top earners as a way of  Read More...

A challenge? Not really.

All you have to know about Ryan - a Catholic - is his well documented touting that sociopathic wack job hypocrite Ayn Rand as his inspiration and guru.

Ayn Rand - an atheist whose so-called philosophy - Objectivism - is fundamentally opposed to the very public service that Ryan claims she inspired him to make his career.

Ayn Rand - who viewed anyone with a social conscience as weak; the poor as parasites and expendable; who denounced Social Security and welfare - yet took both when SHE needed them.

Ayn Rand - who idolized a serial killer who murdered and dismembered a little 12 y/o girl, describing him as a "Superman" - and modeled her fictional heroes after him.

THIS is the warped guru whose turgid novels Ryan and many other highly placed members of the GOTP regard as a blueprint for a "new society."

And now Ryan is trying to distance himself from Rand for political gain - because the atheist part and me first-ism don't sit well with what he claims are his religious beliefs - not because the ideology he has espoused is demented.

I think Ryan is a little "too complicated" for dog catcher - let alone high political office.

The only reason that Paul Ryan has any kind of prominence is because the other republicans in the race are so grotesque even when compared to him.

Who else is going to trot out a budget? Teabagger Joe Walsh who can't seem to pay the child support he owes his children? Please.

Paul Ryan's rise in the Republican party is simple. He is a simplistic ideologue who has no interest in real people or real people lives. He is happy to put ideology before facts and ideology before truth. He has floated to the top of a party where there are no ideas and no interest in governance. For any evidence of this we just need to look at his cruel and staggering budget. Whislt giving a massive tax break to the wealthy, the Ryan budget plan Romney is so fond of slashes funding for Medicaid, food stamps, and other for low-income programs, nearly all of which Ryan's plan would eliminate over the next couple of decades.

Cruelty is part of the Republican platform, and Ryan has embraced it, much as he has embraced the teachings of his beloved St Ayn of Rand.

The Ryan budget is a godsend...for Democrats. For decades the GOP has been distracting low information voters from its core social Darwinist agenda with emotional, social issues that they've had no intention of resolving ("God, guns, and gays"). By rallying around the Ryan budget Republicans have stepped out from the shadows and are proudly flying their predatory capitalist freak flags. Democrats will happily point out each mean-spirited, self-dealing provision every day...all the way to November.

Why Paul Ryan's meteoric rise?

IMPO........

It's because when Social Security ends, a lot of people are going to finally wake up, and be very, very angry. looking for someone to get the blame.

The old pro's know better than to be the leading advocates of this.

Eisenhower spelled it out pretty succinctly in his letter to his brother in 1954......

"Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance, and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history. There is a tiny splinter group, of course, that believes you can do these things. Among them are H. L. Hunt (you possibly know his background), a few other Texas oil millionaires, and an occasional politician or business man from other areas. Their number is negligible and they are stupid."

The Republicans are out to end social security, and have been for quite some time.

The notable republicans don't want their name attached...........when it goes down.

Yet more 'mainstream' punditry pretending that nutty Paul 'Ayn' Ryan and his ridiculous 'throw grandma under the bus' budget proposals need to be taken seriously, for some unknown reason (probably Koch money is involved).

Interesting to listen to his speech at Georgetown.

He is so used to being the Republican Golden Boy.....glib....smirky.... that he was nervous and uncomfortable sounding throughout, due to the latest Catholic chiding of him and his "principles":>)

Hmmmm.....look at Walker, Cantor, Priebus (RNC Chairman), and Ryan...really LOOK at them.

I like Ryan. I have actually seen his wingnut extremism (Turning Medicare over to Wall Street) turn very long-time Republicans into Democrats overnight. They got scared.

Ryan rose to the top because he was the only Gold Over People re who bothered to come up with a budget. It's awful, anti-American and pro-corporation - and the rest of the Gold Over People party loves him for it.

Nice use of their favorite acronym. They ceased being the Grand Olde Party some time ago. I think it was between Bush 41, who put the country before his reelection by making the hard choice to keep the government working by going back on his big campaign promise, and Bush 43 who let his VP rubberstamp torture, got into several unpaid for wars(at least one under false pretenses), alienated most of our foreign allies, and set the record for most vacation days taken by any president.
