Florida Woman Finds $90,000 Diamond Ring Thanks To Classified Ad

A Florida woman has been reunited with her $90,000 ring thanks to a newspaper classified ad, The Associated Press reports.

This week, the woman and her husband took out a large ad in the Pensacola News Journal, offering a "large reward" for a lost ring with "no questions asked."

The piece of jewelry in question was a 5.02-carat diamond engagement ring which the woman had forgotten in a restaurant's restroom when she had taken it off to wash her hands, the Pensacola News Journal reports.

When the woman realized her mistake about 20 minutes later, the ring was gone.

"We were both frantic," said her husband, who asked not to be identified. "And my wife was just sick about it."

According to Fox News, the couple contacted the police, a private investigator, as well as local pawnshops and jewelers, in an attempt to locate the missing ring.

Finally, the couple decided to take out an ad in a newspaper's classifieds section.

Incredibly, a local woman noticed the ad and thought the ring's description matched that of one her friend had found at the same restaurant, Fox News reports.

The reader contacted her friend, who immediately turned it over to police. According to The Associated Press, the woman who found the ring said she had assumed it was a piece of costume jewelry.

The woman refused a reward, saying only that she did not want to get into trouble.

"It’s not just about the money," said the husband, a local business owner. "This was going to be a family heirloom."
