DPS Settles Lawsuit Over Special Ed Student's Death

By Robert Snell

Detroit Public Schools will pay $425,000 to settle a federal lawsuit filed by the family of a deceased special education student.

The 9-year-old girl's mother sued in 2009, alleging her daughter died of seizures a few days after an aide handled her roughly and forced her to walk unassisted.
