New York Post Targets Daily News Editor-In-Chief Colin Myler In Phone Hacking Reporting

The New York Post and the Daily News had two very different takes on a new bombshell report about the long-running phone hacking scandal at News Corp.

On Tuesday, a British Parliamentary committee's long-awaited report issued damning verdicts about key figures in the scandal. The Culture, Media and Sport committee judged Rupert Murdoch "not a fit person" to run a major international company like News Corp. It also concluded that Myler, a former editor of the News of the World and now editor-in-chief of the Daily News, had misled Parliament about his knowledge of phone hacking.

The Post, which is owned by News Corp. went after Myler in its reporting of the findings on Tuesday. Its piece led with the allegations against the rival editor, and wrote that the committee had found him "complicit" in the scandal.

Meanwhile, the Daily News ran the Associated Press write-up about the report on Tuesday.

The Post's article notes that he joined the Daily News in January, and also served as the executive editor of the Post from 2001 to 2007. It is accompanied by a graphic that shows Myler and quotes the report saying that he "misled" the committee by "answering questions falsely" about phone hacking.
