Rachel Bird couldn't take Tim Tebow to prom, so she did the next best thing: She went arm in arm with a cardboard cutout of the NFL star.
The Iowa teen didn't want to be the only woman at her table without a date, so after a failed attempt at contacting the former Denver Broncos quarterback via Twitter, she decided her senior prom might be a little more fun with a life-size Tebow cutout, the Des Moines Register reports.
And she was right: Her date was the life of the party.
“I think more people took their picture with Tim than they did with me,” Bird told the Register.
And when Bird wanted some space, Tebow had no problem granting her wish.
"He was a cheap date, and he didn't talk much," Bird told the Sioux City Journal. "And when I asked him to stand in a corner, he did. I don't think it even hurt his feelings."
Bird told the Journal her April 28 prom was a memorable occasion. In hindsight, though, the teen would've swapped her dress for a gown made of Jets jerseys, in honor of Tebow's new position with the New York team.
Although Bird said she's attracted to Tebow for his open-approach to faith, she's certainly not the only person who's tried to contact the Heisman Trophy winner for a date.
At least one other teen has tried reaching out to the athlete through social media.
In December, a Colorado high school senior by the name of "Dulce" created a Facebook page titled "Timmy, Will You Be My Prom Date?" in an effort to get Tebow's attention.
Dulce's and Bird's proposals might not have gone down as planned, but one Alabama teen did score a date with one of her favorite athletes.
Former Alabama star Trent Richardson agreed to accompany Courtney Alvis, a 17-year-old leukemia survivor, to her senior prom, WSFA reports.
"I'm really excited but I'm also nervous. I've watched Trent all the time on TV, and he's going to be coming to prom with me," Alvis told the station.
