LAS VEGAS -- A not guilty plea has been entered on behalf of a 22-year-old man jailed in the brutal sex attacks and hammer slayings of a Las Vegas mother and her daughter.

Bryan Devonte Clay Jr. was not asked to enter his own plea. He said little during the brief court hearing Wednesday.

Clay is accused of attacking and killing Ignacia Yadira Martinez and 10-year-old Karla Martinez in their beds, and bludgeoning husband and father Arturo Martinez with a hammer. Martinez is critically injured.

Two boys, ages 9 and 4, were spared during the bloody attack in the Martinez home.

Clay also is accused of trying to rape a 50-year-old woman in a separate attack hours earlier not far from the home.

An evidence hearing was set for June 15.

Kudos to Steve Wolfson, our new Clark County DA for considering the death penalty for this case. I am not even a death penalty proponent, but some cases LIKE THIS ONE -deserve it. This "In cold blood" "Psycho" "hammer killing" is the stuff of horror movies.

This guy is pure evil. Slow torture should be a part of this punishment. then finally he should be put down like a mad dog, but in a more painful way. I am having a hrd time not lashing out against people who dress and act like this monster. Bogeymen do exist. They may not be under our beds, but they are lurking the streets outside of our doors looking for a way in.
