"James, in real life, had to train quite a bit," Van Der Beek told TV Guide. It's all because in the fake "DWTS" he's worried about getting upstaged by his nemesis on the show, Dean Cain.
But that didn't stop him from taking some time out to help June save face with her womanizing ex-boyfriend. All it took was a staged fight, a very real looking slap from Chloe and the idea that every man in New York desperately wants June. Her ex had called her boring, so they painted a very different -- and far more desirable -- image for him.

Young post-college women come to New York City to live the "dream," only to find out it's more of a pizza-and-scuzzy-guy-filled nightmare of long subway rides to low-paying (or no-paying) jobs.
It's certainly been a long time since I was this beguiled by a set a characters, but Girls is one of those rare birds. It's a fresh and wonderfully realized show that feels like nothing else on TV.
Some of the comedy's most reliable humor comedy comes from this presumably fictional version of the Beek, who is a pompous, amusingly self-absorbed jackass.
Granted, these are early days. But so far what I've observed is exactly the opposite of what I would've thought. It's not the women from middle-class, college-educated backgrounds dressed in funky business casual who exert the most authority in their own lives.
Anyone else still mourning last week's season finale of "Happy Endings"? The idea that one of my favorite comedies is no more (until the fall, that is) would normally make me miserable and bitter. The only thing that didn't have me completely spiralling is the replacement -- "Don't Trust The B----- In Apartment 23."
