'Supernatural' Season 8, 'The Vampire Diaries' Season 4, '90210' Season 5 Coming To The CW

'Supernatural,' 'The Vampire Diaries' & '90210' Renewed

"Supernatural" Season 8 is a go on The CW. According to Zap2It, both Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles will return for another season of the hit series.

Current showrunner Sera Gamble will step down and former "Supernatural" writer Jeremy Carver will return to the series as co-showrunner with Robert Singer. Carver is currently the executive producer and showrunner of Syfy's "Being Human" and will remain on the series.

"The Vampire Diaries" and "90210" will also be on the The CW's schedule. This will be Season 4 of "The Vampire Diaries" and Season 5 for "90210."

During Season 7, "Supernatural" has held steady in the Nielsen ratings. Its most recent episode had 1.6 million viewers, but with its cult following, a renewal was likely. Meanwhile, "The Vampire Diaries" is one of The CW's best performing shows, with ratings in the 18-49 demographic sometimes besting other networks in its 8 p.m. Thursday timeslot. Its most recent episode had 2.2 million viewers. "90210" was the surprise of the renewal bunch. The series was considered a long shot for a fifth season as its numbers have declined consistently over the years, but it will be back.
