20 Highest Rated Companies Hiring Interns And Paying Them Big Bucks: Glassdoor Report

Who says internships are nothing more than unpaid slave labor?

A new report from Glassdoor details 20 of their highest rated companies which not only hire interns but also pay them handsomely.

The list of their top 20 companies includes big names like Google, MTV Networks, Intel, NBC Universal and GE. Some of these pay their interns nearly $7,000 per month.

Be warned, however. By applying at Amazon or Procter & Gamble, past interns said they ran through the toughest interviewing process they've experienced.

Not sure how they'd rank in other terms, but in terms of pay federal internships pay decent as well. I'm technically an intern at my agency (even though I'll be converting after I finish my MBA). Interns government-wide make between $2200 and $2800/month. After adjusting for locality pay (I'm in the DC Metro Area), interns here are pulling between 2800 and 3500/month. It's not terrible for students.

Is this before or after tax? I thought I had it good at $3300 before tax but these pay a ton, especially if these are calculated as after tax. I guess I should expect that from Google and Intel though.

I am not sure about the other companies besides GE, but I suspect GE can employ high paying interns is due in part that they didn't pay any fed taxes last year.

My son interned at P&G and was paid handsomely. He has gone on to work for them in a directorial capacity.

Many large Wall Street Firms and Banks will pay graduating seniors who want to intern for a summer these pay rates as well, they use it as a recruiting tool and it works out well for both the student and the company.

I was an IBM intern recently. I earned $5,500 per month until I graduated that was raised to $6,000 when I graduated and started grad school.

My federal/military retirement is 6500 dollars a month...I thought I was doing really well until I read this article. I'm making what an intern makes.....That doesn't make me feel very good. But, I live pretty well on what I make; I do and go where I want to, so, I suppose it's okay. :-)

What's with the N/A companies. How can they be rated as the best paying, are they just saying they're the best? Sort of like the Donald saying he's a billionaire. Huffpo needs to remember the rules of journalism- Who, what, why ,when and where, and always verify.

Real the list? I ain't sayin nuthin bout stuupid but! The Donald is the only person who campaigns to be on that list, most people who have that kind of money want to keep it quite since their kids and themselves could be targets of kidnapping and stuff.

If you can get a summer position/"internship" during law school at a major law firm, they pay pretty great too.

Yes if you can get on with a major Corporate Law Firm you can easily make 10k a month as a summer intern -- and the work won't be that difficult. But if you decided to start with them once passing the bar.... they will get the money back in your hard work. You'll keep getting paid that 10 to 12k a month.... but 65+ hours a week will be the minimum.

One of my kids just learned he's interning with one of these companies.
Late call back, but he's happy to have it.
