This. Saturday. Is. Going. To. Be. Epic. Why, you ask? Oh, let us count the reasons (it's a trifecta).
1. Cinco de Mayo. A terrific excuse to drown your sorrows in delicious tart and salty margaritas.
2. The Kentucky Derby. The only day it’s socially acceptable to sling back bourbon and bet on ponies while donning a ginormous head topper.
3. The SUPERMOON. That’s a full moon that’s 12% bigger and brighter than a typical full moon due to its close proximity to the Earth.
Given these three things, rest assured the crazies will be out in full force (do you have any idea how handsy moon worshippers get after five Mint Juleps?). Which means you can either join them at the bar or hide from them at home. Either way, do yourself a favor and enjoy one of these cocktail mashups created especially for this very rare alignment by some of New York’s best mixologists.

Pour into a chilly up glass and garnish with a blackberry or mint sprig.
*Spicy tequila: Split one scotch bonnet in half and throw into a mason jar of silver tequila, turning upside down every 5 minutes. It will be ready after only 30 minutes! Be sure to strain out the pepper or it will continue to infuse. Spice level can be altered by letting it infuse longer to make it spicier or make it milder with a less spicy pepper like a jalapeno.
*Helpful tip: if you don't feel like making simple syrup, just top the drink with a lemon lime soda instead of club soda. It does the job of both.

Add ice to shaker and shake for another 3 minutes. (The longer you shake, the frothier it will be.) Pour into a highball, and lighten it with a splash of club soda. Top your cocktail cloud with a full circle slice of lemon. This will be your moon, duh. *Chamomile Gin: Simply place a couple of chamomile tea bags in an air tight container, fill with gin, and seal. Will be ready for drinking in 3 hours. *Lavender Simple Syrup: Find fresh lavender in the produce section of a fancy grocery store. Simmer on heat with a cup of sugar and cup of water for 10 minutes. Strain. If you can't find lavender, St Germain's Elderflower Liquor is a nice flavor substitute.
