Former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean ripped into Michele Bachmann on Sunday, calling the Republican congresswoman's prediction that women will vote for Mitt Romney "perfectly ridiculous."
"Frankly, Michele Bachmann has never had much command of the facts and that shows us exactly why," Dean said on "Face the Nation," in response to Bachmann's claim that female voters would turn out for Romney. "Women are terrified of what the Republicans are talking about. They're talking about basically stripping away their ability to have insurance pay for their birth control pills."
Dean continued: "[The Romney] candidacy is a shipwreck and for Michele Bachmann to go on there and claim that women are going to vote for Mitt Romney is perfectly ridiculous."
Earlier on the CBS News program, Bachmann said the so-called "war on women" is a myth concocted by Democrats.
"The myth is there is a Republican war on women," Bachmann said. "There's not a Republican war on women. That's coming from the Obama reelection team."
Bachmann, who endorsed Mitt Romney for president last week after her own presidential bid ended in January, said that women would vote for the candidate most competent to deal with the economy.
"Mitt Romney is competent in spades," she said.
Below, a look back at some of Bachmann's most memorable statements:

Bachmann raised some eyebrows in November 2011 when she claimed she'd never "had a gaffe."
"As people are looking at the candidate that is the most conservative and the most consistent candidate, I've been that candidate. I haven't had a gaffe or something that I've done that has caused me to fall in the polls," Bachmann told Greta van Susteren in a Fox News interview.
The claim was interesting considering her knack for makingmisstatements.

Between us, we are the fathers of four daughters and the reality is that the youngest are growing up in a country where women have less rights and personal autonomy than when the oldest was born.
Last year, Bachmann mentioned that one of her favorite economists is Ludwig von Mises. Her endorsement of Romney, though, has Mises turning in his grave. Romney's political views represent everything the Austrian economist despised.
"Frankly, Michele Bachmann has never had much command of the facts and that shows us exactly why,"
Well Howard, what showed me her incompetence was the fact she actually thought she had a chance at the presidency, although I wonder sometimes when I look at all the debate candidates what exactly was going on there, so many debates and so many clowns for candidates.
I feel sometime Karl Rovian may have been going on.

oooh, I think Sarah Palin is secretly voting for President Obama. If he's not re-elected, she'll never again receive any press time. In her party, she's irrelevant. Who is asking her to campaign for them?

If you want a real eye-opener on how the tea party feels about women look up Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson, an Alabama reverend and the president of The Brotherhood Organization of A New Destiny. He preached a sermon claiming that women were crazy and shameful and should never have been given the right to vote, among other mysoginistic comments. The respectful reverend is a tea party activist and a Fox News commentator as well as a close friend of Sean Hannity's. Any woman who votes for a republican this time around needs to have her head examined!!!!

The only reason for bank accounts outside of the US is it's a tax dodge. Mitt dodged the draft for Nam and dodges tax for his country. He's a real Tea Part Patriot.

To quote Forest Gump "stupid is as stupid does". So I for am sure that Mitt will get some women voters, some hispanic voters, some black voters. possibly even some gay voters. But he won't be getting my vote.

Yep. There are always some from all walks of life who will manage to vote for someone even though it is, in effect, voting against their own interests. Not me. All my life I've worked for women's rights and causes. I find myself just totally appalled that it never occurred to me that women like Bachman, Palin, Jan Stewart, would be the type of women who would end up benefiting from our efforts to break through that glass ceiling. Everywhere I turn now I see women who are totally fed up with the status quo and yes the "war on women". and I'm pretty sure there will be plenty who won't vote for Mitt on that issue alone.
