'The Boundaries': Saskia Kretzschmann's Edgar Allen Poe-Inspired Animated Short (VIDEO)

Animated Short Circles An Edgar Allen Poe Quote

Edgar Allan Poe once said, "The boundaries which divide life from death are at best shadowy and vague. Who shall say where the one ends, and where the other begins?" The famous quote comes from his short horror story "The Premature Burial" about a man and his overwhelming fear of being buried alive. Though Saskia Kretzschmann doesn't harp on this fear, she does focus on the balance between life and death in her animated short "The Boundaries of Life and Death."

The minute-long black and white animation tells the twisting story of the never-ending circle of life. The video begins with a Poe-appropriate blackbird whose death spurs an enchanting series of events that dance around the delicate balance between mortality and eternal sleep.
