"The New Normal," starring Ellen Barkin, is coming to NBC.

"The New Normal" is coming to NBC. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Peacock network has ordered the Ryan Murphy comedy pilot to series. The network has also ordered a drama from J.J. Abrams and "Supernatural's" Eric Kripke.

Murphy teamed with Ali Adler for "The New Normal," a comedy about a blended family. The family includes a gay couple played by "The Book Of Mormon" star Andrew Rannells and "The Hangover's" Justin Bartha, and the woman (Georgia King) who becomes their surrogate. Ellen Barkin and "Real Housewives" star Nene Leakes are also part of the cast.

"The New Normal" joins new comedies "Go On" and "Save Me" in receiving a series order.

On the drama side, the Abrams/Kripke series follows a family as they attempt to reunite in a post-apocalyptic world where every piece of technology has stopped working. The series, which was referred to as "Revolution" in early stages, stars Billy Burke, David Lyons, Giancarlo Esposito, Tim Guinee and Andrea Roth. Deadline.com confirmed the pick-up.

The Abrams/Kripke series joins "Grimm," "Smash" and Bryan Fuller's "Hannibal" on NBC's drama programming slate. The network will announce its full schedule on Mon., May 14.
