Patrick Rieder Pleads Not Guilty To Charges Of Raping Boy With Adoptive Father

DAYTON, Ohio -- A not guilty plea has been entered for an Ohio man accused of raping a boy who authorities say was brought to the man's home by the boy's adoptive father.

Montgomery County court officials say a Dayton judge entered the plea Tuesday for 31-year-old Patrick Rieder (REE'-dur) on four counts of rape of a child under 13. His bail remains at $1 million.

The prosecutor says the adoptive father brought the boy to Rieder's Dayton home and both men engaged in sexual conduct with him.

The adoptive father is charged in two counties with several counts of raping children under his care. The Associated Press is withholding his name to protect the children's identities.

Rieder's attorney declined to comment Tuesday.

We do have to send the message out to the public that child molesters and child rapists will be convicted for their crimes and face the death penalty. I know some advocates say nay to the death penalty because more perps will murder these children to hide their guilt.

I say they are doing that any ways. Instead what we are doing is releasing them only to have them harm more children. We either have to punish those who abuse children to the fullest extent of the laws or you have to forgive all of these serial killers, murders and rapist because so many of them were abused also as children but saw no justice in their lives.
Our laws did not really punish those for their terrible crimes against children. Nor did they protect the innocent from real harm.

Anyone who could commit such acts against a child or dare to raise them to be their sex slaves have no place in our society or should not. We have been giving more rights to these perverts then we have to their victims and that is the worst shame of all.

This sickens me. I know the screening for adoption is long and usually very detailed but still freaks like this get through. I, however, am denied adoption due to health issues that "may" cause me to be unable to care for the child. I have high blood pressure and diabetes. I am well controlled and in perfect health aside from that but I cannot adopt because I might... at some point down the road... not be able to care for the child. Additionally, my husband is a cancer survivor. So it is not just my health, but his too, that blocks us and the sad thing is that we would adore any child we were blessed with. Yet the powers that be let some demented sicko adopt a child and then this happens. Something is majorly wrong with this system.

I understand your reasoning. It seems though that becoming foster parents is the way for you to go. The courts are serious on this matter. Long term health issues that cannot be cured or have the chance of becoming serious, life long struggles is too much for most kids. Everything is stable in your lives now but you do not have children who will make things harder for the two of you not easier in the long run.

It isn't to punish both of you but to think of the long term needs of every child. I wish you well and I hope you both spend some time volunteering in organizations that cater to children.

This is really sickening, heartbreaking, and unbelievable! Children are in constant danger, is their no safe haven for them? Evertime time i read Aol news u see a headline like this! These animals need to be put to death!!! Anyone that hurts a child is not human. I am a sexual abuse survivor n nothing makes it better n u are scarred for life. The case was blown open Friday morning when investigators from a Franklin County internet crimes task force contacted Troy Police after conducting a weeks long investigation through online chats, which led them to Brandt and others.

According to Troy Police Capt. Chris Anderson, Brandt assaulted his three adopted sons and traded one of them for sex to at least two men. The victims are 12, 10 and 9 years old. A fourth child lived in the home, but does not appear to be involved, Anderson said.

Brandt adopted all four children from Texas within the last few years.

"That's one of the things we're curious to find out, is how a single father has four children living with him through adoption agencies but that may take months to figure out," said Anderson.

anyone rapes a child should be put to death, there is no curing a pedophile, so why poison our world with them? Pedophilia is NOT a sexual preference, it's sexual deviation. It will never be removed from the DSM IV. There is no cure, no treatment, they willingly ruin young lives, so take theirs.

Are you kidding...put them to death?? The bleeding hearts that have never experienced anything bad in their lives will see to it that these 2 get 3 good meals, excerise, movie nights, strengh training, great medical/dental care, a warm roof over their heads, any type of schooling ( all for free) and fight for them to be released back into the wild so they can do more damage to someone elses kids. Oh and next time they wont be stupid as to leave the kids alive to tell on them. Theres no such thing as punishment for crimes in America it seems thats why they all come here to rape and kill!!

I didn't want to read this article because I knew I would be thinking of the victims and the horrors they must have suffered, and grieve about their lost innocence. Like they wouldn't have trust and security issues before this crime.
But I did read it, and now I am very angry!
How do people like this get in a position to adopt children, did no one come in for a home visit and do evaluations? What the hell is wrong with these people who victimize children? Can someone please tell me what is going on in this sick world?

Removing the weapons isn't enough. They can substitute weapons. The government needs to take out the real cause... the sick mind. Of course, the only way to do that is to put them to death but, hey, we kill a few of these sicko freaks off and word will spread that it is NOT ok to harm a child. An eye for an eye... take their lives for the life that they have taken from this child... a life where he is able to trust and feel safe and secure. That's gone now forever.

Though I doubt it will have a huge impact on those who know how hard it is to prosecute these kind of cases, at least with the death penalty we will have fewer repeat offenders. The parole boards have proven so untrustworthy. Juries are so fickle and some are so easy to con. They do not feel the real impact that such abuse has on innocent children. When they let a child down with a weak sentence they have sent the message that they really just do not care if a child is seriously harmed or not.

Talk is cheap. No child molester or child rapist should ever be released into our society ever again. Sounds harsh but I for one am so tired of them ruining the minds and bodies of innocent children. We want children to grow up to be productive members of our society. To do that we must do our part in giving them the right to a childhood free from pain, torture and humiliation at the hands of their caretakers. We are sending the message to kids that we just don't care about their suffering. Not to mention that we are also condemning them to a life of fear. That either they risk becoming a victim to the perp or forced to take lethal actions in their own defense to protect themselves or loved ones from further harm. We have to start taking child abuse seriously or more innocent people will suffer because of it.

A woman who was on an recent episode of "Anderson" said that sex offenders or child molesters like those two perverted men in the picture cannot be cured.

Those rapists deserve the same treatment from the prison rapists.
