'The Night Circus' By Erin Morgenstern Is The Next HuffPost Book Club Pick

The HuffPost Book Club's Next Pick Is...

Last week we asked you to vote for our next pick. With a slew of emails, comments, votes and tweets crying out for an engaging and fun novel to follow from "What It Is Like To Go To War", the final choice was clear.

40% of you voted for "The Night Circus" by Erin Morgenstern, and so that will be our next HuffPost Book Club choice.

Here's some reviews:

"She employs her supple prose to conjure up a series of wonders: a maze made of clouds, a ship of books floating on a sea of ink, a tent that seems to contain a vast desert." - Salon

"Indeed, the darkest and most engaging element in the novel is not the circus but the relationships between the children and their guardians" - New York Times

"The structure of the book mimics the circus where it's set: short, captivating chapters, each a feat to take your breath away. As you read from one to the next, the marvels pile up, the plot lines converge, and you're left wondering how the whole thing was even possible." - Goodreads

We can't wait to begin diving into this story, and to discussing some of the issues it raises. We'll be talking about magic in literature, the power of the circus, and perhaps also issues of didactic teaching in relation to the narrative.

So, join us on Sunday, May 27th at 7pm ET when we will begin our discussions with an introduction and a reading guide to the first two chapters of the book. And if you haven't already, you can sign up to have the discussions emailed to you right here.

Will you read along? Are you already a fan of The Night Circus? What are you most looking forward to in this book? Would you be interested in being a part of the team leading the discussion? Let us know your thoughts below!
