Health Care: 30 Million U.S. Adults Had Unmet Need Due To Cost In 2010

Health care continue to rise for post 50s. Retired couples will need an estimated $240,000 to cover their medical bills -- 4 percent more than people who retired a year ago, according to Fidelity Investments' annual projections released today.

At the same time, "virtually every state experienced deteriorating access to care for adults over the past decade," according to a separate report out this week from The Urban Institute and Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. More than 30 million adults in the U.S. age 19 to 64 "faced an unmet health need due to cost in 2010," the report found. That's about 19 percent of the total population, up from 13 percent a decade earlier. Not surprisingly, the uninsured were the hardest hit.
