'Gangster Squad' Trailer: Los Angeles Is The Backdrop For Nolte, Brolin & Gosling In The 1940s LAPD Mafia Flick

WATCH: 'Gangster Squad' Shows Off Sexy 1940s LA

"Los Angeles is a damsel in distress and I need you to save her," says Bill Parker (played by Nick Nolte) in the recently released trailer for the highly-anticipated film "Gangster Squad."

The upcoming film follows the West Coast war between Brooklyn-born mobster Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn) and a select group of off-the-clock LAPD outsiders (Josh Brolin and Ryan Gosling, swoon!).

Prepare to be transported into Los Angeles circa 1949. The aesthetics of "Gangster Squad," mixed with our city's meticulously preserved architecture, show a dark but romantic view of a Hollywoodland that no longer exists.
