Since a frightening number of people in this country already subsist on food-like substances, and don't seem to care, what's the point of this "study"?
Besides, according to the article "most" people in the survey means 38% plus the dither factor in the undecided 26%

If you fear gmo foods, you may avoid them by purchasing foods that are designated "organic" (or raise them yourself!). So why all the fuss and fear? All technology has risk. Find your level of comfort and live it. But don't try to impose your views on me.

This survey is bogus. The International Food Information Council is an industry funded organization. Surveys like this are designed to elicit the results the industry wants, like painting a bullseye around an arrow. One scientist who years ago helped design these studies, Thomas Hoban from North Carolina State University, has since said they are misleading.

Dow has petitioned for deregulation of GMO corn resistant to 2,4-D, a major component of AGENT ORANGE. If this petition is approved by the federal government -- which has long conspired with GMO companies such as Dow, Dupont and Monsanto -- it would result in the unleashing of tens of millions of gallons of toxic pesticide chemicals annually onto America's agricultural landscape (not to mention runoff into rivers, streams, lakes and oceans. Being resistant to such chemicals, the GE corn may then uptake those chemicals into its own structures and grain kernels, thereby creating corn laced with 2,4-D that would be unleashed when you eat your corn-based breakfast cereals or corn tortillas.

Who fabricated this story??? The agri monopolies Monsanto and DOW????? Please... I live in CT and over 90% of the people do NOT trust GM foods. I would not mind if the altered foods were to be more nutritious or drought resistant... what I do NOT want is a poison inserted into the DNA of the foods I eat so Monsanto and DOW toxic and poisonous chemicals can work better!!! Is this insane? We have NO idea what this would do to the insect world (our bees) or the food chain or our environment.... Unfortunately our GOVERNMENT is owned by Monsanto + DOW...

Unfortunately, too many people are not informed about this product and have a preconceived notion that "science" is a problem solver instead of simply a process to discover information. The results can be good, bad or indifferent.

Actually, since there is a fairly large group that is undecided, I am hopeful that more education and awareness might make people realize that there are many problems with monocrops in general and GMO, as it is currently implemented, particularly and agree that labeling is necessary.

In the meantime, I have been contacting companies to inquire about GMO ingredients in their products and make it clear I will only be a customer if they do not use it.

That will probably have more effect than trying to get the FDA to do its job.

Nice try, but not believing everything blindly some industry wants to sell is not anti-science, it is common sense. According to you being anti-smoking 20 or so years ago was anti-science too. The corporations have only one mission, to make money, which is fine, but don't try to sell it as a humanitarian effort.

The article actually says:

"The evaluation - conducted by the International Food Information Council (IFIC) - found that 38 percent of consumers have a somewhat or very favorable opinion towards plant biotechnology, up from 32 percent in 2010. A smaller 26 percent were neither favorable nor unfavorable, and 20 percent were either somewhat or very unfavorable. "

38% is not "most people". You need to work on your math skills, HuffPost.

I agree that anything industry funded should be viewed with a wary eye. But I have a question. Would you feel the same way if a study was "industry funded" by the organic industry?
