Heather Michelle New, Teacher, Under Fire For Playing Explicit Rap Song "Rack City" In Class

Heather Michelle New, a teacher at Crooms Academy of Information Technology in Sanford, Fla., has been placed on five-day unpaid suspension after playing the highly explicit rap song "Rack City" by Tyga to her high school class, the Orlando Sentinel reports.

According to the paper, the song highlights "at least three dozen inappropriate words or phrases, including a reference to sex with a grandmother."

In an email to the Sentinel, New said she greatly regretted the error.

"I would just like to assure everyone that I am very sorry that inappropriate music was played during my lesson... As soon as I realized it was inappropriate, I turned the music off. Rack City was only played for 10-20 seconds."

New isn't the only teacher to share questionable content with students.

Last year Rhett Felix, an Illinois high school teacher, was put on paid suspension for showing clips of "The Daily Show" to his sophomore-level class.

According to the Pantagraph, parents were upset the segments contained adult language and sexual content.
