JPMorgan Chase CEO: I Have No Idea Whether We Broke The Law

05/11/12 04:47 PM ET AP

Jamie Dimon

NEW YORK -- JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon says he does not know whether the bank broke any laws in the surprise $2 billion loss by one of its trading groups.

In an interview with NBC's "Meet the Press," Dimon says regulators should look at the matter.

"We are totally open to regulators, and they will come to their own conclusions," he says. The full interview airs Sunday. Excerpts were released Friday by NBC.

Dimon says the bank was "sloppy" and "stupid" in its handling of the trades.

Doesn't know and doesn't care. If they did break the law he will simply get the law rewritten. OR do what banks normally do and offer the regulators fat juicy contracts when they leave the govt. NOTHING TO SEE HERE FOLKS!

How did these people get put in charge of U.S. finances? Someone with simple common sense could do as well. These "bankers" have hoodwinked the common man and woman that they could run things better and they took over and run it all into the ground. They should all be in jail. Maybe Jaime doesn't know if they broke the law or not but it seems pretty clear to me that they did and the sooner they are all put in jail and their power removed the better it will be for all of us and the country as a whole.

"I Have No Idea Whether We Broke The Law"

We pay our lobbyists a lot of money to make sure the laws are on our side. I hope they didn't make any mistakes when they wrote the bills for our pocket politicians to pass!

Good to know the CEO don't know. I see a bad case of selective amnesia coming on when they start asking questions. What a dirt bag.

If he did not know, then he broke the law.

Dimon, "I have no idea whether we broke the law."

Translation: Run it up the flagpole — it's unlikely we'll be challenged and even if we are, it'll be a pittance to "settle”.

Just the cost of doing business...

Based on past history with the banks, I'm afraid you're right. Can't we please have Bernie Sanders for President? F&F

Are you listening and watching Jamie Dimon? There is an old adage of sailors and seafarers that is actually a basis for ancient to contemporary maritime law that should hold for CEOs as well:

"When you make a successful crossing, congratulate the crew. When the ship hits the rocks and sinks, blame the captain."

Is it your watch Jamie? Do your shareholders pay you MILLIONS to operate THEIR ship properly? Blame the captain!

Pathetic coward.

Also applies to the Executive Branch of the American government.

Jeez Bert - Let's not forget the money handlers our Congress or the legal eagles our SCOTUS. There's more malfeasant criminality going on there than in the Executive. With the CORPORATE/gop organized crime syndicate all but dictating to both, it's hard to miss.

A daily KOS writer has coined the term "Romnesia". I think I'll go with that. He's suffering from Romnesia. Very debilitating disease. Scott Walker has it too. A regular pandemic among other Republicans is on the verge of breaking out.
