Mother's Day Shopping A Big Boost For Small Retailers

The "shop small" trend has officially carried over from the holiday season, as two-thirds of U.S. shoppers will look to boutiques and small retailers for Mother's Day gifts, according to a survey from FedEx.

The National Retail Federation predicts that Mother's Day spending will reach $18.6 billion this year, making it the biggest shopping holiday after Christmas and a big sales opportunity for small businesses.

According to the survey of 1,000 Americans, 84 percent feel that gifts available at boutiques and small retailers are more unique and personal and 64 percent feel that they are better quality.
