'Nikita' Renewed For Season 3; The CW Also Picks Up 'Hart Of Dixie' & Final Season Of 'Gossip Girl'

The CW Renews 'Nikita,' 'Hart Of Dixie' & 'Gossip Girl' (For A Final Season)

"Nikita" will live to see a Season 3, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The CW series has been renewed, despite having been on the bubble since its premiere in 2010. The network has also picked up "Gossip Girl" for a shortened final Season 6 and "Hart of Dixie," starring Rachel Bilson, will get a Season 2, THR reports.

The CW has canceled "The Secret Circle" and "Ringer," each of which only saw one season.

Maggie Q stars as the title character on "Nikita" (Fridays at 9 p.m. ET on The CW) with Lyndsy Fonseca playing her protege, Alex, and Shane West as her favorite sparring partner Michael. They're all tied to Division, a secret (and incredibly corrupt) government-funded organization. Fonseca confirmed "Nikita's" renewal via Twitter.

"Nikita" premiered in September 2010, airing after the network's golden child "The Vampire Diaries" on Thursday nights. The first season averaged a 1.1 rating in the key 18–49 demographic. But after it was somewhat surprisingly renewed for Season 2, the show moved to Friday nights, where it's been paired with mainstay "Supernatural." The most recent episode of "Nikita" scored a 0.4 rating in the key demo.

The CW mainstay "Gossip Girl" will also be back for sixth and final season, consisting of just 13 episodes, according to Deadline, after which Leighton Meester, Blake Lively, Ed Westwick and the rest of the Upper East Siders will sign off forever. (XOXO!) Creator Josh Schwartz took to Twitter to promise fans one thing:

"Hart of Dixie," which stars Bilson as young doctor Zoe Hart who moves to a small Southern town, will see a 22-episode Season 2, Deadline reports.
