Here's the kind of comedy presented in the trailer for "The Campaign": Will Ferrell's perfectly-coiffed politician accidentally punches a baby in the face.
"Is anyone asking how my hand feels, after punching that iron-like jaw of that baby?"
Combining the grand and awesome tradition of "Anchorman," "Talladega Nights" and Ferrell's George W. Bush impersonation, "The Campaign" focuses on a congressional race in North Carolina between Cam Brady (Ferrell) and Marty Huggins (Zach Galifianakis). That's about all you really need to know: Ferrell and Galifianakis (affecting a high-pitched voice not dissimilar to his brother "Seth"), go toe-to-toe in "The Campaign" to increasingly dangerous results. Like that part where Marty shoots Cam in the leg with a crossbow -- the second comedy this year where someone has been shot in the right leg by a crossbow, following "The Five-Year Engagement." Three's a trend, y'all! Get on that crossbowing, comedy writers.
Also: "The Campaign" looks glorious (Frank the Tank voice). Punch its ticket when the film arrives in theaters on Aug. 10.
