Katy Perry, Russell Brand Divorce: Comedian Unfollows Ex On Twitter

Russell Brand has finally made his split from Katy Perry official...on Twitter.

Nearly five months after Brand filed divorce docs, the comedian has unfollowed his ex, "Access Hollywood" reported Sunday. Perry was quicker to unsubscribe from Brand's @rustyrockets account, clicking the unfollow button in January -- less than a month after Brand filed for divorce.

Brand's latest move certainly doesn't jibe with recent tabloid allegations that he'd sent the 27-year-old singer an "emotional email" in hopes of reconciling.

Without Perry, Brand -- who counts an impressive 4.6 million users among his Twitter followers -- is down to an exclusive 73 people on his "following" list, including his “Get Him to the Greek” co-star Jonah Hill, Alec Baldwin, Ellen DeGeneres and comedian Louis C.K.

Brand filed to divorce the popstar in December 2011, just 14 months after they said "I do." Their split, which was finalized in February, was reportedly amicable -- Perry signed the divorce doc with a smiley face and Brand requested no money from his former wife, even though their lack of prenup entitled him to half of what Perry had earned during their marriage. Brand also reportedly gave Perry rights to the $6.5 million home they bought while married.

The social media-savvy pair were the talk of the Twitterverse when fans -- and detractors -- got word of their split in December. Click through the slideshow below to read some of their reactions.

Please stop turning HuffPost into TMZ. Are we really having discussions about "deep meaning" to KP's music? Seriously? KP and LGG apparently both went to the Lenny Kravitz School of song writing. There may be some underlying representation of life events, but it's not exactly what I would call articulate or poetic. Give me a break.

What is wrong with people...they seperate get a divorce and then he said last week letting her go was the dumbest thing he ever did...then now he's at it again...grow up Russell - put it behind you and move on...stop being nasty - stop talking about it, let...it...go...when it doesn't work both sides are at fault...take your part of the blame and let her take hers and then just be done with it...the more you talk, write, twit, etc...you just look foolish and we start to understand why she said bye...bye. LET IT GO.

Russell Brand is a tool who needs to keep his opinions about American politics to himself.

Don't see this as a dig at all. Brand took no money ,gave her the mansion and she quit following him months ago. Seems like the split was amicable and the action can not be considered a dig. A non-story.

agreed.

I don't think of it as a dig. He seems to want to go on with his life. That's allowed, right?

brand, a star? In what? he's ugly, repulsive, and thinks he's God's gift to women. . Perry is lucky to be out of this big mistake. . . honestly rusty, if you're so happy, stop lingering on your failed marriage. . .

I admire the fact that Russell Brand didn't take the money from the prenup. Another thing I look forward to seeing him in the movie Rock of Ages, which comes out this June. Fans of him make sure you go see it.

Time to grow up, Katy. Do some serious music, not kiddie stuff.

Katy does some songs that are humorous and aren't too serious AND she also has some songs that are serious and "deep". You have to buy both of her albums and listen to ALL the songs on them.

Apparently, some people only buy the official singles that Katy releases that are played a lot on the radio. Katy has plenty of depth as a musician. She does good upbeat, fun songs and good "serious" slower and mid-tempo songs. On the slower songs you can more easily hear how good her singing voice is.

Here's some serious, "deep" songs from the "Teenage Dream" album .... Pearl, Not Like the Movies, and Who Am I Living For.

Here's some serious, "deep" songs from the "One of the Boys" album .... Lost, I'm Still Breathing, and Mannequin.

that applies to all musicians, though......i dislike how ppl who aren't familiar with an artist's works beyond what the mainstrem media chooses to play will stereotype them...hey, sometimes they're right--but it was doing this myself that caused me to miss out on a looooot of artists that are now some of my fav's (ex: eminem).
