A-listers like Tobey Maguire, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon made a list last year that they would rather
have been left off of -- they were named in an underground high-stakes poker ring.
But now, Hollywood's leading men can breathe a sigh of relief as a lawsuit that was bringing unwanted attention to their extracurricular activity has been settled out of court, according to Celebuzz.
Defendants were suing Maguire and his buddies after a fellow player, Ponzi schemer Bradley Ruderman, lost roughly $5.2 million in the poker ring. Twenty-two "victims" of Ruderman's scheme finally recouped $1.75 million in the out-of-court settlement.
In 2010, Ruderman was sentenced to 10 years in prison for participating in a wire fraud for which he used $44 million of investor capital. Approximately $311,200 of his investors' money went to Maguire to cover losses -- Ruderman even reportedly stayed at the "Spiderman" star's home on occasion. According to Celebuzz, Maguire forked over $80,000 "to be dropped from the litigation."
Although Affleck, Damon and other high-profile players, such as Nick Cassavetes, Leonardo DiCaprio and Alex Rodriguez, were involved in the poker ring, Maguire was the only one sued.
