What kind of shoes would you wear to meet the president?
We might try some pointed toe flats or kitten heels a la Michelle Obama or strap on a pair on stilettos (you know, because President Obama is so freakin' tall). But Whoopi Goldberg being the wild shoe lover she is, showed up for Obama's taping of "The View" looking like she'd just stepped in gum.
For real. There was fake gum on her shoes.
Thanks to Gizmodo, we realized that Whoopi was wearing a pair of heeled sneakers created by Kobi Levi, who specializes in cheeky footwear seemingly made of inanimate objects. The pair Whoopi chose were his "Chewing Gum" heels, which retail for $2,240 and feature a heel created out of a (faux) stretched wad of pink gum.
While we're not into sticky stilettos ourselves, major props to Whoopi for wearing the playful pumps in the presence of the president. Clearly, as Obama said in his recent commencement speech at Barnard College, "You can be stylish and powerful, too." In our book, Whoopi is definitely both.
