Yogurt Spill Highway
A tractor trailer crash on a New York highway let slip 18 tons of Greek yogurt onto the road.

CHENANGO, N.Y. -- A tractor-trailer crash in upstate New York has sent 18 tons of Greek yogurt spilling alongside a highway.

The station reports that the yogurt spilled on the highway's shoulder and down a hillside. The sheriff's office says crews are still cleaning up the crash scene Tuesday morning.

The 24-year-old Nebraska man who was driving the truck wasn't seriously injured. He was ticketed for failure to reduce speed and improper lane use.

The westbound lanes of I-88 were closed for a time after the crash.

Reminds me of the time that an trailer load of oranges got spilled on I-85 in Atlanta around 1988-89. Turned I-85 into the stickiest and slickest slip-n-slide ever. What a damned mess. Tied up traffic for hours! Anyone out there remember that one? It was legendary. (Of course, there was also the time all the cows got loose in downtown Atlanta, as well. I KNOW you guys remember that one!)

A great disturbance in the Force. It was like a million voices crying out in unison, then suddenly silenced.

EW especially if you have hot weather in New York.

It took all day to clean it up and reopen the highway. But now our local news people assure us the the highway is finally dairy-free... You KNOW they were waiting all day to say that.

ALL yogurt is temperture sensitive. It all had to be destroyed after spilling out of the refrigerated truck. It would have been too labor intensive to even try to salvage any of this for human consumption. BTW, WALLABY is the best yogurt in the world. No, it is NOT made from wallaby milk.

Nearly all the containers should have been intact. They should still be sold, or at the least, donated to food banks.

Animals would have a field day on this incident.

Wrong picture.. It was Chobani.. one of the largest, preservative-free Greek yogurt manufactures.. not yoplait..
if yoplait did spill, with all the chemical additives it has in it, it could have been salvaged.. lol
