Bill Maher Talks Obama Newsweek Cover & Gay Marriage On 'Conan' (VIDEO)

WATCH: Maher Talks Obama, Gay Marriage

Newsweek recently celebrated Barack Obama's endorsement of same-sex marriage by running a cover that depicted the President donning a rainbow halo and named him the "First Gay President." And on "Conan" Tuesday night, guest Bill Maher shared some of his thoughts on the whole sentiment.

Maher noted that the headline was an allusion to Toni Morrison's 1998 remark that Bill Clinton was the "first black president," but he also picked up on some key differences.

She said [Clinton] was the first black president because she said so many things about him were similar to the black experience. Single mother, working class, grew up poor. Then she said 'saxophone playing,' as if all black people do that. McDonald's eating... Okay, so Clinton was like black people for those reasons. What about Obama is gay? I don't understand how this translates. What does he do that's gay?
