Seriously, how is not having sex before marriage better than getting married in your teens or early twenties (which is what most who abstain do)? And Mariah Carey's example can't possibly count - most people wait two months in any relationship anyways. Am I the only one who thinks marriage is a much bigger step to take?

Honestly, sometimes it feels that the only ones who actually take marriage seriously are precisely the ones who are supposedly "subverting the sanctity of marriage" (i.e. gays).

I would never counsel my daughter to wait until marriage to have sex. I would counsel her to choose wisely, and take precautions. I really don't think her worth lies in her so called "purity". She is intelligent, kind and thinks of others while remaining unshakably true to herself. This to me, is representative of her true worth.

I can't get over how devoted those two Christian kids are on "The Big C," how they have found a way to literally turn their backs on lust in these wild days of rampant, feel-good abandon. So the moral of the story is wait until you are married to have sex.

Its NOT natural. People need to have wild sex with several people in their 20s before SETTLING DOWN by the END of their 20s.

Waiting until marriage is a B A D idea.
unless you are a BIBLE nut or some other religious freak- it always leads to divorce, cheating, or a yearning for "what would it have been like to be with another".

Who has the means to support herself and her child and happens to be in a stable relationship. Marriage isn't required to have a child. Stability is. The pair of them getting married won't change the stability. Mature adults realize that marriage isn't a deciding factor for having a child. Forever is forever, with or without the ring.

Abstaining from sex until marriage is God's standard, and it is the only way to go. No wed, no bed. Just say no to sex until marriage, and then only engage in it with your own spouse.
