Why do the kids always look so angry? I think that is the biggest message of the show, that there is nothing to belive in but brute force and gaming another. Or did they just pick it up from their grand dad? Family guy doesn't believe in much either but creates a totally different conciousness yet still brings to the fore all the societal inconsistencys and folklore fantasies. Its interesting how style so sets these two shows apart that probably agree on more than you'd think. Conciousness is everything.

Isn't it possible that the seeming anger you see in the kids is based on your perception and perhaps not what is intended by the creators of the series. I see Riley as a mostly happy go lucky kid with a warped perception of the world. Angry sometimes, yes, but mostly happy. His older brother never smiles but I don't see him as angry. Just serious-minded and introspective.

Oh Ripley has brother problems big time.  My perception is accurate though even if you want to be in denial of their angry world view.  Their faces are all contorted up in smug anger and the brother is something else, grand dad too.  But I get that is a style, but anger shuts down a lot of communication and perceptions and enjoyment.  Too much testosterone in the show if you want my take.  I probably watched it when many from my ilk didn't.  I do like the crazy guy too as we have all seen that and what a take.

"I like doing bad things," was a classic.

Thank God! the third Season's opener was one of the funniest half hours of TV ever! Using the always odd documentary film maker Werner Herzog for narration was brilliant! When he calls Huey "the most miseralble kid he had ever met, I almost pissed myself."

Huey!!

Huey Freeman: Vision? What do you know about my vision? My vision would turn your world upside down, tear asunder your illusions, and send the sanctuary of your own ignorance crashing down around you. Now ask yourself, Are you ready to see that vision?

And I have not noticed this because I don't watch the show regularly.

thank god, the best cartoon ever is back just in the nick of time. I just wish the creator was'nt so tempermental so he could stay focused and have a steady run of about 15 seasons like the simpsons. the show is great for young urban kids from age 2-25 they need to know this type of stuff in a format they can feel.

Did you ever see the 1st scene of Chasing Amy. I always wished that was a real comic book. This show, fills that want!
