Tiger Woods is still the most powerful athlete in sports.

Well, at least according to Forbes, which released its annual Celebrity 100 list on Wednesday.

Woods was ranked No. 12, ahead of 16 other athletes, including LeBron James (15), Kobe Bryant (27) and Roger Federer (31). Phil Mickelson, who came in at No. 48, was the only other golfer to make the list, which ranks the celebrities based on money and fame.

The earnings consist of pretax income between May 1, 2011, and May 1, 2012. Fame is defined as “media visibility in print, television, radio and online,” according to the story. Social media numbers are also taken into account.

In all, five categories were judged: money, television/radio, press, web and social media.

Woods, 36, earned an estimated $58 million and was fourth in press rank, sixth in television radio, No. 20 in money, No. 25 in web and No. 45 in social media.

Mickelson, 41, earned an estimated $48 million. His highest ranking came in press rank, where he was No. 33.

American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez topped the list.

Keir Weimer believes Tiger will make a reminiscent Sunday run at the title in this tourney, in characteristic red adornment. Tiger has been in a serious mid-career slump since domestic troubles hit the fan over two years ago now.

Keir Weimer believes Tiger still has the raw talent and years ahead of him on the tour to make a serious run at surpassing the Total Majors Won mark, but it will be challenging. One thing Tiger seems to be wanting of late: the focus and mental preparedness necessary to win majors, consistently. Let's stay tuned and hope this golf phenom still has it in him to make more history than he already has.

Tiger Woods was earning about $90 million annually when he was at the top. He is not hurting now, but $58 million shows a huge decrease in popularity.

LOL well that's one way to put a negative spin on things. " haha Tiger you only made $58 million you are such a failure"

58 million dollars doesn't "show a huge decrease in popularity" just less endorsements...He's just as popular as he was when he made 90 million....it's not like ppl forgot who he was/is.
