Glenroy Jacobs Fatally Shot By Girlfriend Whom He Attacked With A Machete: Cops

Cops: Girlfriend Shot And Killed Machete-Wielding Boyfriend

After a Coral Springs man reportedly attacked his girlfriend with a machete, she fired a fatal gunshot to his chest on Sunday night, according to authorities.

Around 8:30 p.m., Coral Springs Police received multiple calls about a loud domestic dispute and a gunshot on the 5300 block of NW 126th Drive.

Officers found Glenroy Jacobs, 46, dead in the driveway with a gunshot wound in his upper chest, according to a police release. In a nearby residence, cops found his girlfriend with a severe cut on her hand.

A preliminary police investigation revealed that Jacobs and his girlfriend were involved in an argument when he armed himself with a machete and she grabbed a firearm.

Broward State Attorney's Office will need to determine if the fatal gunshot wound was fired in self-defense, reports the Sun Sentinel.

Police confirm that the couple had been together for four years and have a 2 year old daughter together, who was present at the scene along with the girlfriend's 13-year-old daughter.

The older daughter went next door after the attack to call for help.

"She banged on my door. She came to us because she needed help, and she is friends with my daughter," neighbor Denise Korin told WSVN7. "I was standing next to her while she called 911 and she explained the situation to the police."

The girlfriend was transported to North Broward Medical Center and is in stable condition.

“They’ve had a relationship for four years,” Coral Springs Police Lt. Joe McHugh told CBS Miami. “It’s been on and off again, very rocky relationship. He moved back in to the residence about a month ago. Last night, obviously another dispute occurred resulting in him being killed.”
